MONDEOR MOSQUE, JOHANNESBURG
Premier Composite
Technologies (PCT) has recently completed their first South African
construction - 6 domes for the Mondeor mosque in Johannesburg.
PCT
domes are hi-tech structures made from a sandwich of glass fibre and
epoxy resin composites with a thermoplastic, structural core.
Lightweight and self supportive, the structures are extremely strong
and durable and weigh as little as 15% of the equivalent structure
produced out of concrete.
The production of the 6 domes took
PCT only one month to complete and less than one week to install,
illustrating the significant time and cost benefits of using these
advanced components over more traditional materials.
The
Mondeor domes are the latest addition to an extensive portfolio of
composite domes built by PCT that includes the 27 sliding domes for the
Prophets Mosque and 118 domes for the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi.
